The Night my Innocence was Stolen
The power was out, the perfect opportunity for a predator.
With the cover of night, he would become my molester.
Wearing a blue princess nightgown,
He ripped it off and threw it to the ground.
Lucky for me he said,
He had another on the bed.
At the age of nine, I believed him,
Not knowing the fate that awaited me was grim.
He wanted to play a game,
But after I would receive all the blame.
It had to be a secret between us,
No one would believe me if I made a fuss.
He only touched at first.
I thought that may have satisfied his thirst.
He gave me back my blue princess nightgown,
And told me he'd seen me around.
I only wanted flashlights, because the power was out,
But life took another route.
That was the night my innocence was stolen,
The night that I felt truly broken.
