I remember when I first started educating myself about domestic violence, a friend showed me this wheel of power and control. She had said, “Once I saw this, it became so clear to me that I was in an abusive relationship.” It was eye-opening for her. And it was for me too.

Abuse is a pattern of behaviors to gain and maintain power and control and this wheel shows the different actions that define abuse.
